As a clinical social worker, psychotherapist, and Candidate in Psychoanalysis, I provide psychotherapy and psychoanalysis to people across the lifespan.
My training formally began as a social worker where I spent time in schools and community centers working with diverse populations. Following my time in community mental health, I began psychoanalytic training which involves extensive coursework, a personal analysis, and clinical consultation. Psychoanalysis involves frequent meetings which can provide an immersive experience for illuminating the origins of emotional difficulties, reworking relationship dynamics, and thinking about ones life in ways that promote expansion.
I believe that most psychological problems begin as responses or ways to manage difficult early experiences. Psychotherapeutic work involves identifying what is not working and finding new emotional solutions for living and relating. My approach involves working together to understand what is getting in the way of a fuller living experience and renegotiating how to love, work, and play.
Psychotherapy and psychoanalysis can help people experience emotional growth and change. Through determining each person’s unique treatment needs, the frequency of sessions and length of treatment are carefully decided upon. Some people approach therapy wanting help with an urgent problem while others are hoping for exploration that goes “beneath the surface”. Other times, it’s some combination of the two.
Some issues that people seek individual therapy for include but are not limited to:
I recommend meeting an initial 2-3 times to determine how I can be helpful to you. During these appointments, I will provide my recommendations for your treatment.
