Psychotherapy & Psychoanalysis

Lauren B. Davis, LCSW

As a clinical social worker, psychotherapist, and Candidate in Psychoanalysis, I work with people across the lifespan. I bring experience in community mental health as well as ongoing training in treating issues related to self-esteem, trauma, relationships, loss, life transitions, childhood, and parenting.

I strive to create a space where therapeutic trust can be experienced. In this space, I will listen closely to your lived experience and history to try to understand what is getting in the way of living fully and authentically. I help people identify the “root cause” of the problems which bring them to therapy and find ways to understand their meaning while building upon already existing strengths to live more satisfyingly in the world.

Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis

Psychotherapy and psychoanalysis can help people experience emotional growth and change. Through determining each person’s unique treatment needs, the frequency of sessions and length of treatment are carefully decided upon. Some people approach therapy wanting help with an urgent problem while others are hoping for exploration that goes “beneath the surface”. Other times, it’s some combination of the two.

Some issues that people seek individual therapy for include but are not limited to:

  • Low self esteem
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Ending or starting a relationship
  • Loss and grief
  • Difficulties in work or social life
  • Traumatic experience
  • Difficulty with parenting
